Leo Littlewood
Richfield, Utah
Clarence Leo Littlewood died April 23, 2015 in Monroe, at age 97. Leo was born February 11, 1918 in Richfield to Clarence Martin and Lena Strobel Littlewood. He married his soul mate, Uarda Christiansen of Elsinore on November 4, 1942 in the Manti LDS Temple. Uarda died September 29, 2000, after 58 years of marriage.
Leo lived his entire life within the boundaries of the Richfield 4 th Ward, except for time spent serving as a LDS missionary in Switzerland and Montana. Leo was one of the last missionaries to evacuate Europe at the onset of World War II.
Leo and his family owned and operated the Richfield Shoe Shop on Richfield’s main street for three generations. He was a master shoe repairman. Later in his career he added upholstery to his skill set.
Leo was a gentle man—he lived his life without guile.
Leo and Uarda had many friends. They met with the same large group of friends each month for more than sixty years. Leo enjoyed his many church callings and performed them to near perfection. He served with seven bishops as either a clerk or as a member of the bishopric. He and Uarda served as temple workers in the Manti and Provo temples for 8 years.
He loved his family and just being with them. He had some great stories to tell, but it was hard to get him to talk about himself—he preferred listening about the lives of others.
He is survived by his children: Merril (Kathy) Littlewood, Houston, TX; LeAnn (Lewis) Wade, Sandy; Janet (Rodney) Busk, Richfield; 13 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson. He is also survived by siblings: Phyllis Olson and Bruce (Lorene) Littlewood.
Also preceded in death by his parents; grandson, James; siblings: Eugene, Grant, and Geneal Colby.
