Clara Stewart Petersen, 90, of Ephraim, passed away on Friday, May 11, 2012 at her home.  Clara was born on August 8, 1921 in Torrey, to David Earl and Ruby Mae Holt Stewart.

Clara was raised and educated in Park City and later moved to Manti during her junior year of high school.  Clara married Ted Bach Petersen on March 30, 1939 in Manti.  She was employed at Pacific Trails Sewing Plant.  She served on the Central Utah Food Bank Board of Directors, was president of the Ephraim Senior Citizens, secretary and historian for local, regional and state riding club associations for many years.  She also served as a personal bookkeeper to her husband, Ted, while he was a meat inspector and brand inspector for the Utah State Department of Agriculture.  Clara received the Yule Candle and was an “amazing woman”according to family, friends and neighbors.

She is survived by her children: Sue (Howard) Jordan, Missoula, MT; David R. (Priscilla) Petersen, Tucsan, AZ; Elna (Steve) Neu, American Falls, ID and LuAnn Bodenstab, Ephraim.  She is also survived by one brother, LeEarl (Janice) Stewart, North Odgen;  sister, Fannie Lorene Fowler, SLC; 21 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son; Gary Ted Petersen, bothers; Glen, Homer Guy, sisters; Nola, Latone, and 2 grandsons.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, May 18, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the Ephraim 1st Ward Cultral Hall, 420 North 200 West, Ephraim.
