Clair Lavar Ford, 81, passed away suddenly December 30, 2016 in Richfield. He was born May 14, 1935 in Richfield to Clair and Lucile Bates Ford. He married Terene Marie "Whistler" Hammel on October 5, 1963 in Chewelah, Washington. The marriage was solemnized December 6, 2000 in the Manti LDS Temple. She preceded in death on September 19, 2016.
He served in the Army and was stationed in Korea. He worked on the oil rigs in Washington state where he met and married the love of his life, Terene. They moved back to Richfield where Lavar worked with his father out on the Glenwood Road at the Ford Fish Hatchery for many years. He later became a truck driver, logging millions of miles all over the United States. Most recently, he became the primary care giver to his beloved Terene, tending her until her death 3 months ago.
He is survived by sons: Terry (Machaelle) Ford and William (Renna) Ford, both of Richfield; 7 grandchildren: Elyssa Ford, Matlin Ford, NcKisha Ford, Kyle Pierce, Krystal (Brendon) Davis, Chandler Jackson, Savannah Jackson; siblings: Margaret (Wayne) Wells, Bountiful; Dorothy Higgins, Richfield; Diane Dix, Midvale; Ann (Richard) Fjeldsted, Sandy; John (Pat) Ford, Richfield; Kathryn Jarvie, Taylorsville. He is also preceded in death by parents; brothers-in-law: Marlin Higgins, Paul Jarvie and Tom Dix.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 6, 2017 in Elsinore LDS Ward Chapel, 50 North Center. Friends may call at the Magleby Mortuary in Richfield on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 or at the ward chapel in Elsinore on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30. Burial will be in the Elsinore Cemetery with military rites by the Elsinore American Legion Post #75 and the Utah Honor Guard. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
