Cindy Lola Ashton Ritchie, 66, of St. George, and formerly of Richfield, passed away on March 9, 2024 in St. George. Born into this world on June 28, 1957 in Heber City, to Homer and Lola Ashton, Cindy brought joy and light to those around her from the very beginning. The family moved to Richfield where Cindy lived most of her life. Cindy married Aaron Knaphus and together they had 4 children: Derek, DaNell, Dustyn, and Devin.
In 1980, Cindy became a valued member of the Central Utah Counseling Center, where she remained an integral part of the team until her retirement in 2019. Her compassion and genuine kindness left a lasting impact on countless clients of CUCC, enriching the lives of all who had the fortune of crossing paths with her.
After later divorcing Aaron, Cindy found love again and married William Ritchie. Their love was an inspiring example of commitment and devotion.
As a mother, Cindy raised her four children with boundless love and care. She was their guiding light, offering support, and encouragement through life's challenges and triumphs. Nothing brought Cindy and William more joy than being grandparents to their 9 grandchildren. They attended every event they could and celebrated every milestone along the way. Whether swimming in the backyard pool, baking cookies, or nibbling on their cheeks, Cindy's presence brought immense joy to her grandchildren's lives.
Cindy's life was enriched by her diverse interests and hobbies. She loved the tranquility of gardening, where she nurtured thriving plants and found a sense of peace amidst the soil. An avid reader, she delved into books with a voracious appetite for knowledge and storytelling. Cindy's skilled hands were often busy with sewing and tying lap quilts, a labor of love that brought warmth and comfort to those around her. Cindy cherished the great outdoors and camping adventures at Fish Lake, where she reveled in the beauty of nature and the simple joys of life under the open sky.
Following Cindy's retirement, she and William dedicated countless hours to volunteering at Tuacahn, where their passion for community service shone brightly.
Cindy joined the Beta Sigma Phi sorority as a young woman and was an active member for the rest of her life. She loved these commitments and made many lifelong friends.
Cindy leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion in the hearts of her surviving family members, including her beloved husband, William Ritchie; and her children: Derek (Angie) Knaphus, Richfield; DaNell (Kevin) Bailey, Nephi; Dustyn (Ashley) Knaphus, St. George; and Devin Knaphus, Richfield. She is also survived by her mother, Lola Warr, Richfield; siblings: Les (Cindy) Ashton, Mt. Prospect, IL; Alyce (Mark) Salmond, Idaho Falls, ID; and Shayne (Lucinda) Ashton, West Jordan. She was preceded in death by her father, Homer Ashton, and her stepfather, Fred Warr.
