Cindy Barney
Hatch, Utah
Our wife, mother and grandmother Cindy Keene Barney passed away peacefully at home on July 24, 2024 after a courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She was born September 5, 1958 in Madison, Wisconsin to Norman and Ruby Keene. She married Kerry Barney on July 28, 1979 in the Manti temple.
She loved being a mom and a wife and enjoyed her service in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Cindy served in many callings but among her favorites were Relief Society and Young Women’s in West Jordan where she served as Stake YW president. She planned several camps and pioneer treks that she loved being involved in.
After moving to Bountiful, she returned to college earning her LPN, RN and Masters of Nursing and worked as a nurse practitioner in the NICU. She loved what she did and was able to travel to Namibia in South Africa where she presented studies and her thesis that would help the newborns and nurses there.
She was an avid (some may say crazy) BYU Football fan. Many Saturdays were spent at (then) Cougar Stadium cheering on her beloved Cougars. Her claim to fame may have been winning a trip to the Holiday Bowl in 1989.
Cindy is survived by her loving husband Kerry who took good care of her these past few years; and her three children: Bevany (Michael), Queen Creek, AZ; Brett (Michaela) and Kyle both of St George; as well as her siblings: John (Syl) Keene, David, and Lisa. Her grandchildren Anden, Mia, Zeke, Beckham, Ezra, Macie, Hadleigh and Nora were the biggest joy in her life and they will miss her very much. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruby.
A small family funeral service will be held Monday, July 29, 2024 at 12:00 Noon in the Hatch Ward Chapel. Viewing 10:30 - 11:30 am. Burial will be in the Hatch Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti. Online guestbook at www.maglebymortuary.com
Due to the distance from old friends in Bountiful, Kerry would love to hear from anyone with fond memories of Cindy by card or letter sent to PO Box 272 Hatch, UT 84735.
