Chester "Stubby" Burge

Chester Arevell "Stubby" Burge, 72, died February 23, 2016 at home from heart trouble. Stubby was born March 9, 1943 in Price to Betty Pace Burge and Chester Burge. He was raised in Price by his grandparents, Ivan and Lillace Pace. He joined the Navy and served from 1961-1965 on the USS Coral Sea. He got to see the world. He was honorably discharged.
He married Georgia Christman and they had one daughter, Kim Diane Burge. He raised two step-children: Joe Christmas and Marie Christman in their 26 years together. They divorced. He then married Katie Lund Atkins. They later divorced after 17 years.
He loved stock car racing, NASCAR, raising pheasants, and hunting was his passion. He had a pet skunk name Flower. He was a mechanic, truck driver, and he loved to grow a garden. He retired from long distance heavy haul trucking in 2006.
Stubby was a very outspoken man, but was the life of the party! We will never forget him and he will be greatly missed. RIP Stub.
He is survived by his daughter, Kim (Todd) Hughes; grandchildren: Ronnie Hopkinson and Diane Hopkinson; step-children: Joe and Marie; six great-grandchildren; sister, Marlene Sorensen; brother, Dale Hampton; and two best friends: Julie Crosby and Dodie Staples. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and one brother.
His wish was to be cremated and his ashes spread over "Stubby’s Hill." Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
