Chesley Henry Wintch

February 21, 1929 — May 27, 2012

Chesley Henry Wintch passed peacefully from this life on Sun., May 27, 2012 in St. George, UT.  Though we will miss him, we rejoice in his reunion with his beloved Mary .  He was born in Manti, UT on Feb. 21, 1929 to LuDella Madsen and Henry A. Wintch.
A natural leader, Ches served as student body president of Manti High School, and played on the state championship basketball team.  He graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in pharmacy.  He served as president of the Utah Pharmaceutical association and on many state and national committees, receiving many awards and recognitions.   As the owner and operator of Chesley Drug for 37 years, he filled over a million prescriptions.  His coworkers and customers became part of the Chesley Drug family.
Ches married his childhood sweetheart, Mary Marie Mellor, in the Manti LDS Temple, Sept. 21, 1949.   Together they raised a family and built a business.  They spent many happy days skiing, horseback riding and golfing with their four children, Claudia, Camille, Doug and Amy, and many dear friends.
He married Marjorie Mellor in 1992 and they enjoyed many happy years.
He is survived by his children:  Claudia (Sherman) Thorum, Camille (Gregg) Damm, Douglas Wintch and Anke Summerhill, Amy (Jeff) Budge.  Grandkids:  Matthew (Shannon) Thorum, Andrew (Natasha) Thorum, Aaron Thorum, Jenna Damm, Annie Damm, James Budge, Emily Budge, Nathan Budge.  Brothers Arden (Molly) Wintch, Richard Wintch and Sister, Joyce (Clair) Christiansen.
Ches was preceded in death by his wife Mary; parents; sister, Phyllis Carpenter; twin grandsons, T.J. and Skyler Budge.
Funeral services will be held Fri., June 1, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Willow Creek 2nd Ward Chapel, 2400 East Alta Canyon Drive(8575 South), Sandy. Friends may call, Thurs. May 31, 7:00-8:30 p.m. at the Ward and Friday prior to services from 9:30 -10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Manti City Cemetery at approximately 3:00 p.m.  Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.  Online guestbook at www.maglebymortuary.com
