Mayfield, Utah

Charlie Iley Jones, 75, of Mayfield, passed away on May 21, 2013. He was born on July 13, 1937 in Rancho De Taos, NM. Charlie was born to Carlotta Selph. and Davis Hyrum Cox. After their death Charlie and his brothers were raised by Ina and John Jones. Charlie married Carol Irene Nestman on December 22, 1957 in Salt Lake City. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Jordan River Temple.

Charlie was a career Navy man retiring after 20 years from the US Naval Submarine Service. He also retired as a purchasing agent for International Paper. Charlie loved his family and enjoyed putting down his roots in Mayfield. He was an outdoor person and loved camping, hunting and fishing with his sons and grandsons. Charlie and Carol served for 20 years in both the Jordan River and Manti Temple’s. This service helped fuel Charlie’s enjoyment of family history.

He is survived by his wife Carol and sons: Steven Karl (Sue Ann) Jones, Mark Charles (Brenda) Jones and Scott Roney (Traci) Jones. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sister, Emma Duran and many extended family members.

He is preceded in death by his parents; foster parents; brothers: Julian Jones, Eugene Jones; and sister, Rae Olsen.

Charlie’s family wishes to express their heart felt appreciation to the Gunnison Valley Hospice for their loving care.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 24, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Mayfield Ward Chapel,11 East 100 North, where friends may call prior to service from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. Burial will take place on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 South Redwood Road in Salt Lake City.  Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
