Charles Henry Peterson, 86, passed away February 11, 2016 in Centerfield, Utah. He was born May 12, 1929 in Monticello to Charles Lorenzo and Louise Hackwell Peterson. His youth was spent in Monticello, Summit Point, and Boulder (San Juan County), Utah. The family moved to the Gunnison valley in the early 1940's. He was a graduate of Gunnison Valley High School. He married Helen Funk on June 16, 1950 in the Manti Utah Temple. She preceded him in death February 8, 1990.
Charles worked as a mechanic for Verl A. Peterson Chevrolet, Gordon W. Sorenson Ford and Elmo Sorenson Trucking in Gunnison, Utah. He worked for Thomas Yardley Dairy and then operated his own farm and dairy. After retiring from farming, he owned rental homes in the Gunnison valley.
Survived by his sons: C. Howard (Nancy) Peterson and Paul Mac (Angela) Peterson, both of Centerfield; daughters: Kathryn (John) Graham, Cottonwood Heights; Mary Grant, Stansbury; 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; sister, Gloria Ruth (Mac) Yates, Gunnison.
Preceded in death by his parents; son, L. Reed; infant daughter, Debra Jane; brothers Carl Lee and Ivan R. Peterson.
Private graveside services will be held Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. in the Gunnison Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti
