Chance Garrett Helms, a beloved son, brother and friend, gained his angel wings on September 15, 2019 in Gunnison, Utah. He was born August 17, 2001 in Gunnison to Ron and Vicki Schultz Helms.

Chance was a senior at Gunnison Valley High School. He loved to hunt, fish, shed hunt, go camping, and hanging out with his friends. Basketball and baseball were his love, and this year he tried golf and found he had a hidden talent for it as well.

Chance had beautiful blue eyes and a smile that would melt your heart. He always worked hard at whatever he did—he loved a challenge. He touched many lives in his short time and will be remembered for his fun loving and caring ways.

Chance is survived by his parents, Ron and Vicki, of Centerfield; siblings: Sabrina (Del) Habben, Luther, OK; Herman Hogue, Centerfield; Chelsi Helms, Centerfield; grandmother, Muriel Helms, Eagle CO; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was proceeded in death by grandparents: Kenneth & Marion Schultz, John Helms.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gunnison High School Gymnasium. Friends may call for viewings also at the high school Friday evening from 5-7 p.m. and Saturday morning from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Centerfield Cemetery.
