Celia Wheeler

Aurora, Utah

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, Celia McGee Wheeler, 85, left this life to join her dear sweetheart in heaven on her mother’s birthday, May 3, 2013 in Monroe. Celia was born December 7, 1927 to Elwood Dewitt and Celia Hunt McGee in Kirtland, New Mexico, in their family home. She was the last of ten children. She married her high school sweetheart, Clarence Elmer Wheeler on December 17, 1946 for time and all eternity in the Mesa Arizona LDS Temple. They had 65 years together before his death July 14, 2012.

Mom was dearly loved by her husband and children. She worked hard along the side of her sweetheart for many years on the Navajo and Hopi reservations and stood by his side through thick and thin, always there to cheer her husband on and be a helping hand.

She was a business woman herself and became a director in the Viviane Woodward Cosmetic Company for many years, and then went on to be in business with Mary Kay Cosmetics. She would always say though that her greatest achievement in life was raising her six children. She enjoyed making cherry pies, cakes and fudge and she was always crocheting a beautiful dolie or afghan.

Celia was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many church positions throughout her life. She loved the youth, and enjoyed the many dances the young men and women had in those days. She and Dad could always show-up everyone with their dancing skills.

Celia is survived by her children: Sheila (Stewart) Smith, Snowflake, AZ; Kathleen (Delbert) Lloyd, Aurora, UT; Lamar Wheeler, Holbrook AZ; Gene (Judy) Wheeler, Ephraim, UT; Joe (Debbie) Wheeler, Farmington, NM; and Kristee Lee Wheeler, Aurora, UT; 21 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and all nine of her siblings.

Celia was a grand lady, a queen in her home and our "Steel Magnolia" in life!
