Carolyn Lane
Cedaredge, CO
Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Carolyn Gardner Lane, age 75, passed away December 8, 2012 at Willow Tree Care Center in Delta, CO, with her youngest daughter by her side. Carolyn was born January 11, 1937, in Richfield, to Tell Wilson and AraBella Atkin Gardner. She attended schools in Richfield and graduated from Richfield High School.
She moved to Salt Lake City and enrolled in, and graduated from, Stevens-Henager Business College. While there she met and married Bill Lane. They had two daughters and lived in several cities around the country before settling in the beautiful Salt Lake valley. They later divorced.
She worked for, and retired from, the Utah State Board of Education. She loved her family, crocheting, collecting and displaying teddy bears and antiques, country music, doing the jitterbug and a good cup of coffee. She didn't feel ready to face the day unless she had on her makeup and jewelry. She had a great sense of humor and loved to tell jokes but had a hard time remembering the punch lines.
Carolyn is survived by her daughters: Lori (Craig) Tryon, Riverton and Melanie (Michael) Bates, Cedaredge, CO; grandchildren: Michael Tryon, Riverton; Stephen (Joan) Tryon, Herriman; Meghan (Ryan) Pope, Salt Lake City; and Arabella Bates, Cedaredge, CO; great-granddaughter: Aubree Tryon, Riverton; brother: William T. Gardner, Richfield; sister: Jillene (Steven) Nielson, Richfield; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Magleby Mortuary Chapel where friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
