Carol S. Hansen
Carol S. Hansen passed away at her home on June 25, 2011. Carol was born February 20, 1926 in Richfield, Utah, the third child of Crystal and Dewey Sampson. She had two sisters: Nola and Saundra and seven brothers: Joe, Richard, Ballard, Don, David, John, and Craig.
Carol graduated from Richfield High School and attended BYU. She left college to serve an LDS mission in the North Western States Mission. After her mission, Carol worked at Hillfield Air Force Base during WWII.
Dave and Carol were married in the Manti LDS temple Dec. 1, 1947. They lived in Richfield where Dave worked at KSVC radio station. Their son David Kent was born in 1949. In 1950 Carol and Dave moved to Ely, Nevada where they opened KELY Radio and operated it for 40 years. Jan was born in 1952, Kim in 1957, and Carolyn in 1962.
Carol and Dave served a mission together in Birmingham Alabama from 1987-1989.
Carol's involvement in the community included service at White Pine High School, the Election Board, William B. Ririe Clinic, The White Pine Museum, local archeological projects and as a reading volunteer in elementary classrooms.
Her love of the gospel was evident in her service which included: early morning seminary teacher, work in the stake genealogy library, countless hours working in Young Women's program, visiting teaching, chorister in Jr. Sunday School, service in the Relief Society and other organizations. She served as scribe to the stake patriarch for over 35 years, and most recently as the reverence specialist in Primary. Each calling was her favorite.
She is loved by her husband, children, 21 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and a large extended family, all of whom will miss her greatly.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at 12 Noon in the Ely LDS Chapel, 900 Avenue E. Friends may call at the ward chapel in Ely, Wednesday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Graveside services and interment will be held Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 11:00 am. in the Richfield City Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
