Mary Carol Crofts

Richfield, Utah

Our loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Mary Carol Hall Crofts, 83, passed peacefully away on Thursday, December 3, 2015 in Richfield. Carol was born May 10, 1932 in Jerome, Arizona, to Leon and Flo Seegmiller Hall. She married her eternal sweetheart, Donald Arlos Crofts, on March 20, 1953, in the Manti Temple. They were blessed with four children: Steven Arlos, Maridon, Kelly Leon, and Karen. Donald preceded her in death on June 11, 2008.

Carol lived and worked in Richfield most of her life. She was a librarian at the Richfield Junior High and then a secretary there for many years. She also worked with her husband, Donald, where they operated Richfield’s KOA Campground, which they built and developed from the ground up. In 1983, they moved to St. George to be in a warm and dry climate that would be better for Donald’s health. In St. George, they managed the Coral Hills Motel for many years and loved seeing old friends and making many new friends while there. After their retirement, they continued to enjoy the warmer climate and loved having their family and friends visit them as often as possible. Their doors were always open to visitors.

Carol was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings throughout her life, including Young Women president and Stake Relief Society president. She and Donald served in a member locator mission while living in St George. She loved the Gospel, her family, and her friends. She was always positive and happy and was loved by all who knew her. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy.

She is survived by her children: Steven (Barbara) Crofts, Fairview, Texas; Maridon (Kirk) Rappleye, Richfield, Utah; Kelly (Gayle) Crofts, Aurora, Utah; Karen (Felipe) Ghrist, Elko, Nevada; 15 grandchildren, and 37 great-grandchildren; sister, Beverly Scott, St George, Utah.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Leon (Gloria) Hall; brother-in-law, George Scott; and a great-grandson, Cohen Crofts.

The family expresses gratitude to Dr. Crimin and all of the nurses and staff of the Richfield Rehabilitation and Care Center for their loving care of Carol for over 3 years as she suffered the effects of Alzheimer’s.
