Our dear one, Carol Lydia Busk, 90, passed away May 31,
2013 in Richfield. She was born on December 22, 1922, in Mount Vernon, Washington to John Lester and Myrtle Lillian Kimble Vail. She was reared in Washington, Oregon and Idaho and married her high school sweetheart Jewell Albert Busk in June 1941. He preceded her in death January 17, 1998.
During the Great Depression, Carol and her brother lived with an aunt and uncle in Washington, and then as a teenager moved to Idaho to live with her father who was a Christian minister. In Leslie, Idaho, she met Jewell Busk and after dating for two years were married on June 1, 1941 in Leslie, ID. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple. After Jewell's completion of military service, they moved to Richfield, Utah, to raise their two children and wait for six more. She helped Jewell build a successful construction business in which of all six of their sons joined.
Carol was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings. She had a strong testimony of our Lord and Savior and showed this through her service to family and friends. She cherished having a temple recommend and kept it current.
After caring for their children, she and Jewell retired to travel in their fifth-wheel trailer between their home pad in Richfield, their summer fishing spot near Mackay, Idaho and their winter vacation place in Quartzsite, Arizona.
Carol was an accomplished and talented artist and completed many landscape paintings for her family to enjoy for many generations. She also painted many of Jewell's carvings and wooden baskets which they gave to family and sold in Quartzsite. Carol also made quilts and afghans for gifts to her many grandchildren. Known as Grandma-Great, she will be missed for her welcoming smile, loving care, and generous heart.
She is survived by her eight children, Judy and Mud VanDuren, Rodney and Janet Busk, Morgan and Marsha Busk, Kendall and Jan Busk, Melony and Carlos Guerrero, Kim and Karen Busk, Richard and Lani Busk, and Honas and Renae Busk; 35 grandchildren; 84 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and a brother Richard Lyle Vail.
Also preceded in death by her parents, step-mother, Viola ; daughter-in-law, Ruth Busk; grandson, Joshua Guerrero.
The family wishes to express their thanks and appreciation for the wonderful care extended to our mother by the wonderful staff of Monroe Canyon Assisted Living Center: caring physician, Dr David Crimin; and the staff of Sevier Valley Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Richfield 11 th Ward Chapel, 985 South 400 West, Richfield. Friends may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the Magleby Mortuary in Richfield and Tuesday at the ward chapel from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery.
