Carma Augustson

April 1, 1923 — October 17, 2013

Carma Augustson

Seal Beach, CA, formerly of Richfield

Carma Christensen Augustson returned to the loving arms of her Savior on October 17, 2013 in Los Alamitos, California. Her son Ken and his dear friend, Becky Gibson Cortese were by her side.

Carma was born in Richfield to Leroy and Thurza Bryant Dalley Christensen on April 1, 1923. Carma was raised and attended school in Richfield. She was employed by many places using her expertise as a switchboard operator, including Mountain Bell, Geneva Steel, and Gold Strike. She also worked for Christensen Diamond which was where she met Anders Everet "Swede" Augustson.

Her marriage to Swede led to various states and finally to Leisure World in Seal Beach, California where she resided for the past 32 years. Here, Carma was surrounded by numerous friends whom she considered her second family. She often took on the role of caretaker for those in need. Every where she went she met people who became her friends. When Carma met someone, she made them feel like they had always been friends. She had a way of lighting up a room with her sparkle, youthful energy and sense of humor. Everyone who knew her felt her contagious enthusiasm for life. Carma always sought to learn something new, she asked a lot of questions and had a curiosity about everything. What she learned she remembered and used her knowledge to benefit others. She had a deep rooted testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and her faith and conviction was exemplified in the way she lived her life and the way she cared for others.

She is survived by the love of her life, her son, Kenneth Leroy "Kenny" Augustson; her "favorite granddaughter", Summer Brooke (Brian) Coe; her grandson she affectionately referred to as her "Grasshopper", Kory Shane (Merissa) Augustson; their mother, Shelley Watson; great-grandchildren: Chloe Alyse and Wyatt Timothy Coe; her sisters, Gwen Jackman, and Marguerite Blake; and brothers, Kenneth G. Christensen, Marvin (Connie) Christensen.

She was preceded in death by her parents Leroy and Thurza; husband, Swede; and sister, Helen Holley.

Carma will be dearly missed by those she left behind. Her abundance of love will prevail in our hearts until we meet again. We are comforted in knowing she was greeted with great joy into eternity by angels and loved ones who have gone before her.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Richfield 6 th Ward chapel, 200 East Center, where friends may call from 12:00 Noon to 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
