Bryant Mickelsen

Redmond, Utah

"Archie" or "Butch", Bryant Evan Mickelsen, 71, passed away September 13, 2015 at his home in Redmond with his family around him. He was born November 24, 1943 in Salina to Evan Archie and Marjorie Grace Lindhardt Mickelsen. He married Linda Lou Shaw, February 8, 1964 in Aurora. The marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple, October 16, 1967.

After marrying his life long companion and best friend, Linda, they moved to Salt Lake City and started their family.

Bryant worked at Hill Field doing electronics, and after hours and part time, he developed a keen interest in the construction trades while working with his brothers-in-law. In 1972 he established Mickelsen Construction Company and for the next 43 years he would enjoy working with his sons, brothers, nephews, and others. He was a major force in the construction of exceptionally built homes in and around the Sanpete and Sevier valleys. He built community centers and many other structures. His contribution did not end there. He was the driving force in the development and construction of several town veteran memorials as well as two beautiful rock monuments at both ends of his beloved Redmond. "Butch" insisted that memorials were for those who gave their all... not for those who contributed to the project in any way. His way of thinking was to provide the service, get others to freely contribute and stay out of the lime light as much as possible.

Family was "Pop’s" first priority. He loved driving his team of horses to elk camp with "The Guys" and taking his family to the annual "Squatters Campout" Mickelsen Family Reunion. He was respected and loved by many.

He is survived by his wife of Redmond; children, Garyn (Angela) Mickelsen, Redmond; Alesha (Mark) Johnson, Salina; Nichole (Corey) Thurston, Redmond; Kevin (Heidi) Mickelsen, Salina; and Joby (Starli) Mickelsen, Salina; 16 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson with one on the way; siblings: LaVona Peterson, Sandy; Beth (Jarl) Klungervik, St. George; Maylen (Nikki) Mickelsen, Redmond; Marla (Paul) Frischknecht, Gunnison; Tamra Hardman, Riverton; Rick (Kathy) Mickelsen, Redmond.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Roger Peterson.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 12:00 Noon in the Redmond 2 nd LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the ward chapel in Redmond on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 or on Friday from 10:00 to 11:30. Burial will be in the Redmond Cemetery.
