Brent O Gottfredson

January 31, 1928 — May 22, 2014

Brent Orion Gottfredson, 86, passed away peacefully at his home in Marysvale May 22, 2014, after a long illness. He was born January 31, 1928 in Kelso, Washington to Orion and Gwendolyn Furbish Gottfredson. He married Lola Dawn Smoot, April 14, 1954 in Kelso, Washington.

Brent was raised in Circleville and graduated from Piute High School in 1946. He made his career in the Army, serving in the Korean Conflict and the Viet Nam War. He was a Chief Warrant Officer and retired in September of 1970 after 24 years of service.

He and Lola returned to Piute County where he was a Piute County Deputy Sheriff from 1977 to 1982 and was elected as sheriff in 1982, retiring in 1990. He was the Piute County Justice Court Judge from 1992 to 2003.

Brent loved to fish, hunt and ride his 4-wheeler. He enjoyed "hanging out" at the coffee shop where he always shared a great story or had a joke to tell. He was a true friend and loved his family.

He is survived by his wife, Lola of Marysvale; daughters, Teresa (Anthony) Guiling of Parowan, Lisa (Dave) Mitchell of Cedar City; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Jacob (Janie) Gottfredson of Corpus Christi, TX.

He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kellie Taylor; twin brother, Burt Gottfredson; grandson, Kristopher LaFrentz.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 12:00 Noon in the Marysvale LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call on Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Marysvale Cemetery with Military Rites by the V.F.W Piute Post # 7561 and the Utah Honor Guard.
