Blanche Oyler Pendleton, 95, passed away April 20, 2011. Mom passed peacefully in her sleep at the home she loved so much with her daughter JoAnn and Eldon by her side, following a brief illness.
Mom loved her family, the gospel and her community. She was born August 25, 1915 to Ammon and Annie Ernston Oyler in Loa where she grew up and attended school. Mom left home at age 14 to work at Ruby’s Inn in Bryce Canyon. It was there that she met Wilford Earl Pendleton and they were married in the St. George Temple December 7, 1932. Dad preceded her in death July 4, 1991. Together they had three children: Norwood (Carolyn), Ogden; JoAnne (Eldon) Losser, Murray; and Dirk (Claudia), Santa Clara; 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Mom was sixth in a family of 13 children and is survived by three sisters and one brother: Zina New, LaRue Peterson, Ernest Oyler, all of Loa; and Joy Talbot of West Valley City.
The Oyler reunion held each year in Loa was a major event that Mom looked forward to. She loved going and spending time with her family.
Mom worked very hard her entire life and she loved doing volunteer work. She retired from the Garfield Memorial Hospital thrift store at age 94 and was a recipient of the Silver Bowl award for volunteer service in 2007 by the governor’s office.
Mom continued to quilt every day and donate the blankets to charity until the very end.
Mom was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved the Lord with all her heart. Mom and Dad served a mission for the LDS Church in Billings Montana in 1963. While there Dad was ordained to a Seventy by then Apostle, Thomas S. Monson, March 24, 1964.
Mom was a wonderful cook and everyone loved to go to Grandma’s house. We love and miss you Mom and you will be in our hearts forever.
Our family would like to thank all of Mom’s friends who helped in so many ways: Margie Davis, Wendy, Hospital Staff and everyone who was so kind to her.
