Billy Tanner
Salina, Utah

Our loving husband, father, grandpa, brother, son, uncle and friend Billy Lee Tanner of Salina passed away on January 6, 2025 at the age of 53. Born to Norman Eugene and Patsy Lee Nielson Tanner on January 26, 1971 in Gunnison, Utah, he is the brother to Wayde (Crystal) Tanner, Brooke (Kasey) Brunson, Casey Tanner, Jayme (Tyler) Stanton, Erika (Jessica) Lund, Jayson Terry, Makayla Terry (Kacey Fabrizio). Billy was also raised by his loving mother, Brenda Tanner.

Jill Westwood Tanner and Billy had known each other from high school, when they inevitably reconnected on Match.com later in life falling in love immediately. He married the love of his life on May 5, 2013 in Salina, Utah.

Billy and Jill have 8 kids together, and Billy loved every single one of them with every ounce of his heart, life, and soul: Matt (Kacey) Tanner, Terryn (Meagan) Tanner, Kody (Jordyn) Tanner, Ashlin (Kolyn) Greer, Braygen Tanner, Michael Camp (Reb Price), Belle Camp, Daisy Camp. Billy was also so lucky to be blessed with grandchildren who thought that he was the coolest grandpa ever. He also loved his parents, Norman Tanner, Brenda Tanner, and Patsy Nielson.

Billy was a friend to all. He was always there to lend a helping hand and never had a complaint. He loved everyone and would give you the shirt off of his back. He loved life, and his family. He will be greatly missed.

Billy is preceded in death by his grandparents: Mattie Olsen, Eldred Olsen, Ray Nielson, Newell (Colleen) Dastrup and Norman (Glenda) Tanner.

Billy Lee Tanner was the world’s best man! Everybody loved him like he was a part of their own family. He was an amazingly huge part of everybody’s lives. Everywhere one of his kids would go, it was “I worked for your dad.” or “Your dad poured my concrete for me” and the one that always hit the hardest “Your dad saved me.”

I think to a lot of us, Billy was the man who never stopped. He always had a project, an idea, or an adventure that he had planned. He loved working with his hands, camping, fishing, and just about anything outside.

There will be a gathering and celebration of his life on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 1:00 to 3:00 pm at the Robinson Trucking building, 760 West SR 50 in Salina. Cremation services will follow at Magleby Mortuary and Cremation Center in Richfield.
