Today Bill finished his final battle with Squamish cell carcinoma. William "Bill" Curtain Kent passed away January 17, 2015 in Monroe. He was born in Rupert, Idaho on September 19, 1925 to William Curtain and Eva Pearl Olenslagger Kent. The family moved to Logan when he was 12 years of age. About that time his father passed away and Bill became the man of the family. He learned to work hard helping his widowed mother support his siblings.

At the age of 18, Uncle Sam sent him an invitation to WWII, so he joined the Navy. He was sent to Australia to train in radar and radio communication. Later was assigned to the USS Bluegill for the liberation of the Philippines. This began his life long love affair with Ham Radio. At the conclusion of WWII, Bill returned home to complete his education and begin his career. He graduated with a BS from San Bernardino College in Electronics and went to work for the US Department of Defense in Air Navigational Aids. His work took him to all nine western states, including Alaska and Hawaii.

Bill married Lillian Elfrieda Reidell, October 23, 1949. Their marriage was solemnized in the Los Angeles Temple, December 13, 1964. Lillian brought two children to the marriage: Roger and Linda. Lillian passed away February 27, 2009.

Bill married LuCinda "Cindy" LaVern Tripp, May 22, 2010. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple on May 28, 2011. Cindy brought four children to the marriage: Gary, Jennifer, Karl and Alex.

Upon retirement, Bill and Lillian moved to Monroe where he has lived for the last 30 years. He loved Monroe. Each morning he would get on his bike and ride with the "Wheezer and Geezers". He is a member of the Sevier Amateur Radio Club. KF7MXB will now become a silent key. He has been a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in various callings throughout his lifetime. He has loved serving others, that is what has made him happy. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy; step-children: Gary (Alycia) Lowry, West Jordan; Jennifer (Jared) Young, Cirencester, UK; Karl (Crystal) Lowry, Elko, NV; D. Alex Lowry, Odessa, TX; Linda (Roger) Enzi, Monroe; many grandchildren; sisters: Marcella Bissigger, Monroe; Illean (Robert) Nicol, Elkton, VA; brother, Ferris Kent, Cottage Grove, OR; mother-in-law, Edith Picket Tripp.

Also preceded in death by parents; step-son, Roger Kuehnau; sister, Carol Vance.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to the Gunnison Hospice for their loving care.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Monroe Stake Center, 140 South Main. Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Magleby Mortuary, Richfield and Thursday at the stake center in Monroe from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Monroe City Cemetery with military rites by the Monroe American Legion Post #37 and Navy Honor Guard.
