Betty Smith

Betty Joan Stafford Smith, 85, passed away August 3, 2019 in Centerfield. She was born in Corning, NY; a "June baby" on the 9th in 1934 to Mrytle May Stafford.
As a youth she began her love of books and learning which extended throughout her entire life, as did her love of all the arts. As a young woman she caught the eye of the chef, Bill Smith at the fancy Fontainebleau Inn where she worked as a salad girl. They were married on January 9, 1952 at Beaver Dams in New York State. After moving west Betty and Bill were sealed to their family in the Los Angeles Temple, in November of 1960. He preceded her in death September 9, 2014.
Betty was an active member of her community and had an adventurous heart. Serving for years as a beloved Sunday School teacher in her LDS wards, she and Dad also served a mission in Rochester, NY (1990-91).
Her memory will live on through her four children: David B. (Kathern) Smith, South Jordan; Kathleen A. (Michael) Hurd, Mona; Daniel B. Smith, Washington state; and Laura Sue Smith, Glenwood; 7 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Also preceded in death by her mother.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Glenwood Ward Chapel. Friends may call Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Magleby Mortuary in Richfield or Wednesday morning at the ward chapel in Glenwood from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m..
