Betty Lou Washburn Parker
Harrisburg, Ut

In her usual way mom did it when she wanted.  Betty Lou Washburn Davis Parker, passed away on September 19, 2012, St. George, Utah. She was born on October 10, 1923, to Peter Abraham and Eliza Washburn in Monroe, Utah.  She was one of ten children, being one of the youngest and the last of her immediate family to pass on.  Married Ellis Davis, who died in 1948.  She met Gilbert Parker and later married him on January 22,1950.

Mom and Dad lived in Richfield and later moved to Kearns where they lived and raised their children until they retired in the shadows of Pine Mountain,  Harrisburg, UT.  Mom was loved and respected by many people.  She was a great cook and shared her love of candy making with everyone she knew.  The greatest Christmas gift she ever gave us was a box of her homemade candy. She loved quilting, needle work, her grandchildren, great grandchildren, traveling and visiting with family and friends. Oh, let’s not forget the sneak away trips to Mesquite.

Mom summed it up best about herself in the last article she wrote of the Harrisburg news, “What a wonderful life I had, I only wish I realized it sooner.  If there is anything better than being loved, it is loving.  I have always been one to avoid contention.  I would rather lose my money than my friend.”

Preceded in death by Ellis Davis, Gilbert Parker her parents Peter and Eliza Washburn, brothers and sisters, Viron Washburn, Dick Washburn, Hoover Washburn, Fern Larsen, Bobby Washburn, Ruby Washburn, Leola Brown, Thelma Ogden, Bill Washburn, and their spouses, except for Alice Washburn.

Survived by Terry (Rae Dawn) Davis, Spring Valley, AZ, Mary Parker, Salt Lake City UT, Marilyn Kaye (Gary) Hamblen,  Bluffdale, UT, Thomas (Candalee) Parker, Queen Creek, AZ, John (Joy) Parker, Discovery Bay, CA, Ron (Stacie) Parker, Draper, UT.  15 grandchildren, 41  great grand children and 1 great-great grandchild due in October.
