Betty Lou Hunt Christensen passed away on February 18, 2021 at age 89 at her home in Central Valley after a valiant battle with cancer. She was born July 16, 1931 in Sevier to John Donald and Marvell Ann Utley Hunt, she was the third child in a family of nine children.

Betty spent many years growing up in the small town of Sevier, Utah; but during the Great Depression, they moved from town to town so her father could find work. She attended schools in Joseph, Elsinore, Sulphurdale, Beaver and Monroe.

Betty worked at many jobs while growing up. She tended children, picked potatoes, apples, and currents, cleaned houses and also worked in Tooele, Utah at the Ordinance Depot for three years. She loved to work.

After graduation from South Sevier High School and several years of work, she married Quinn Christensen in the Manti Temple on September 19, 1952. They lived and farmed in Central Valley while raising their family of five children. Betty was a very determined mother! Quinn preceded her in death on June 27, 2015.

Betty loved to work on the farm, driving the machinery and doing whatever was needed. She was happy to work on any project the family was doing. Her family worked together and had fun times when the work was done.

She had many hobbies and talents.  Betty loved to sew, especially dresses for her four girls. She enjoyed quilting and her association with the quilting ladies of Central Valley. She enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking, baking, painting pictures and oil painting.

Betty loved being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and serving in many different callings through the years. Quinn and Betty served a year on a mission to California at the Oakland Temple Visitor’s Center and served at the Manti Temple for three years until cancer came into her life.

It has been so special for Betty to live in Central Valley among so many good people.

Betty is survived by her children: Peggy Peterson, Debra (Wayne) Bezanson, Kathryn (Ralph) Brown, Terry (Penni) Christensen and Amy (Justin) Peterson; 21 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren; siblings: Cecil (Annette) Hunt, Mary Ann (Kerby) Parker, Patricia (David) Simonsen; brothers-in-law, Gene Julander, and Thad Nielsen.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Kim Peterson; siblings: Gerald (Jean) Hunt, Vonda Julander, Illa Dean (Dale) Huntsman, Nedra Nielsen, Donald Joe Hunt; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Central Valley 1st Ward Chapel where friends may call from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Monroe City Cemetery.
