Betty Gay Peterson Bailey, 83, passed away December 3, 2015, in Richfield, surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 5, 1932, in Glenwood, Utah, to James Dancil and Cleo Idella Peterson. She married James Augustus Bailey in Glenwood April 3, 1954. He preceded her in death February 18, 2011.

Betty grew up in Glenwood with 4 brothers and 4 sisters. After graduating from high school she moved to Salt Lake City. That is where she met Jim, the love of her life. They were married for 57 years and raised three children.

Betty worked at Sevier Valley Hospital for over 20 years. After retiring she spent her time gardening, quilting, camping with family, and she always looked forward to the annual Peterson family reunion. She also enjoyed being a visiting teacher and assisting with the compassionate services for the LDS Church. But more than anything she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters: Melody (Garth) Johns, Glenwood; Robin (Sid) Anderson, North Las Vegas; daughter-in-law, Maria Bailey, St. George; 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; brothers: Devon (Cleo) Peterson, Richfield; Terry (Mary Ann) Peterson, Glenwood; sisters, Burma Christiansen, West Valley City; Eunice (Rodney) Rasmussen, Salina; Verna Lee (Chad) Johnson, Salina; sisters-in-law, Shanna Peterson, Richfield; Marion Hughes, Grand Junction, CO.

She is also preceded in death by her son, Neal Bailey; parents; sister, Karma Smith; brothers: Dallis Peterson, Leon Peterson.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Richfield Rehabilitation and Care Center, and the IHC Hospice for their loving care of our sweet Betty.

Funeral services will be held , December 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Magleby Mortuary Chapel, where friends may call Thursday evening from 6-8 or Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery. Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
