Bertha Bosley
1935 — 2013
Bertha Lee Conner Bosley, 78, passed away December 16, 2013 in Ephraim, Utah. She was born February 10, 1935, in Heidelberg, Mississippi, to Lessie Kate Gavins and Ned Abney. She moved to Illinois in the early 1950s. She was the devoted mother of six: four sons – Bobby (deceased), Kenton, Larry and Greyling; and two daughters – Rosie and Delingy "Dee Dee". She was united in holy matrimony to her soul mate, Ben Bosley, who preceded her in death in 1986.
A longtime resident of Alorton, Illinois, Bertha was actively involved in the community and with her church. During her lifetime, she worked in a variety of professions. She was an avid gardener with a passion for and knowledge of numerous varieties of plants and flowers. She lovingly shared her beautiful flowers and garden harvests with her friends, family, and occasional strangers. She also loved to cook and was well known for her cooking and baking skills. She compassionately served her family, friends, and neighbors and continued this meaningful service for many years until her health began to fail.
Even with her fragile health, she continued to touch the lives of those she came in contact with. She did so until her final days. She departed this frail existence on the evening of December 16th under the loving, watchful care of family and friends.
Bertha leaves behind three sons: Kenton Lee Conner Sr. (Som Jit), Larry Donnell Conner Sr. (Lydia), and Greyling Abney Conner Sr. (Mira); and two daughters: Rosie Marie Connor (Larry Griffeth) and "Dee Dee" Delingy Jean Stokes (James); nine grandsons: Antoine Jones Sr. (Camille), Kenton Lee Conner Jr., Larry Donnell Conner Jr., Desmond Conner, Lamar Conner, Greyling Abney Conner Jr., Ryan David Connor, Lee Michael Anthony Arce, Joseph Elijah Arce, and George Michael Hodges Jr.; six granddaughters: Artresa Lynette Jones, Angel Marie Jones Conner (Anthony), Tiffany Jones (Pereze Dodd), Etoile McPherson, Larissa Conner, Alexandria Nicole Conner, and Tymeka Marie Conner.
She also leaves behind six sisters: Queen Ester Jones, Roxanna Jones, Casillie Allen, Rosella Wallace, Cassandra Jones, and Dorothy Williams. Also left to cherish her memory is an abundant host of great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, members of the Faith Miracle Temple family, and special friends too numerous to name individually.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ben Bosley; her son, Bobby Jean Jones; and her two brothers, Clinton Lovett and "D. C." Ben Abney.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 20, 2013, at 12:00 Noon in the Ephraim 6th LDS Ward Chapel, 751 South 100 East, where friends may call from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Ephraim Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
