Barry Rile Barnson, 68, passed away suddenly at his home in Escalante on April 5, 2017. He was born August 11, 1948 in Richfield to Garn Riley and Bobbie Laree Gleave Barnson. He married Linda Woolsey, October 4, 1968 in Escalante.
He loved hunting, telling stories and his family. He was a great tease and a friend for life. He always contended that he “was the best looking and best shot” of all his family. He has worked in the oil fields, was employed with Garkane Power, and has driven truck thousands of miles with his dad, brothers and boys, but he loved farming and “bossing” his grandkids.
He was a member of the LDS Church and was a Primary teacher with his wife in the Escalante 2nd Ward.
He served on the School Board and on the Escalante Irrigation Board for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Linda of Escalante; children, Jamie Lynn (Jacquell) Barnson, Richfield; Dustin Cade Barnson and Sammi Rachael Barnson, both of Escalante; Andy Lee Barnson and Sena Spencer; 11 grandchildren; siblings: Robert Garn (Ann) Barnson, Cedar City; Willie Bernard (Kathy) Barnson, Junction; Lynn George (Laurie) Barnson, Sandy; Jennie Laree (Linn) Bogart, LaVerkin; Lonnie Dean Barnson, Junction; sisters-in-law, Brenda Woosley and Vickey Hansen; brother-in-law, Weldo (Kathy) Woolsey, Robert (Susan) Woolsey. He is preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Beth and Glover Smith; brother-in-law, Jim Woolsey.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 14, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Escalante LDS Stake Center, where friends may call on Friday morning from 10:00 to 12:30.
