Bardell Cal Hunt

February 18, 1945 — January 11, 2019

Bardell Hunt

Richfield, Utah

The autumn leaves will be less vibrant and for so many who loved him so dearly, the mountain trails a little more quiet with the loss of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Bardell Cal Hunt, who passed away January 11, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family.

Bardell was born February 18, 1945, in Salt Lake City, UT, the fourth of five children born to Glen and Coye Hicks Hunt. He lost his father at the young age of three. The family returned home to Richfield where his mother then married Darrell Poulson, adding three little sisters to the family.

Bardell married his sweetheart, Linda Kaye Julander, on July 30, 1965, and they were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on August 30, 1984. They were blessed with three daughters and two sons. Bardell and Linda did everything together including fishing, hunting, shed hunting, rides on the mountain, adventures in Alaska, lots of family vacations, and an occasional excursion to Mesquite. Their love and devotion for each other set the stage for a beautiful life and legacy.

Bardell’s world revolved around his family spending every opportunity he could to teach them the important life lessons. His teachings were rarely in words; his actions and example spoke volumes. He spent countless weekends on the mountain with his family fishing, hunting, and antler hunting. The thrill of the hunt was talked about, reminisced about, and planned for throughout the entire year.

An avid sports fan, he cheered for the Dallas Cowboys, Utah Jazz, Boston Red Sox, and University of Utah. Bardell was his grandkids’ greatest fan at all of their activities and events. He knew each member of his family on a personal level and was aware of their hopes, dreams, and fears and shared wise counsel and prayed for their happiness now and in the eternities.

Bardell provided for his family by working at Safeway Grocery Store as assistant manager, Bill Winkel Distributing as warehouse manager, and Lin’s Grocery Store. He developed strong friendships with his co-workers throughout the years.

Bardell was grateful for his membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed the peace the gospel provided in his life. Bardell’s love for his Savior and the unconditional love of his dear Linda were his greatest comfort and strength during his hardest trials. Together they learned patience, enduring well, and the true meaning of companionship and love.

He is survived by his wife, Linda, Richfield; children: Lana (Scott) Jensen, Richfield; Gina (Graig) Ogden, Richfield; Shane (Raimee) Hunt, Spanish Fork; Tanya (Weston) Hutchings, Monroe; Calvin (Shannon) Hunt, Central Valley; 17 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; siblings, Sally (Jim) Mathews, Miles Hunt, Judy Mills, Gwen (Nathan) Simmons, Annette Dickinson; father-in-law, Gene V. Julander; sister- and brother-in-law, Tammy (Duane) Schneider, Larry Julander.

Bardell was preceded in death by his parents and step-father; mother-in-law, Vonda Julander; brothers, Ronald Hunt, Gerry Hunt; grandson, Tyson Ogden.
