Barbara V. Faatz

Barbara Devoda Voorhees Faatz, 90, passed away peacefully August 20, 2012 in Riverton, Utah. She was born October 20, 1921 in Gunnison to Austin M and Anna Devoda Voorhees. She was the oldest of seven children growing up and living most of her life in Mayfield.
She married the love of her life, Donald Carl Faatz, on July 19, 1940. Together, they worked hard, and raised their four children. He preceded her in death in 1982.
Barbara was a kind and loving woman, spending many hours serving and loving others. She was involved in her church and community and made a difference in the lives of many of the young children in Mayfield. She loved the mountains and being with her family. Barbara was an excellent cook and loved to feed everyone. Her mind was clear and she loved to learn, write and read. Barbara has spent many hours compiling her personal history and filled many volumes with her work.
Her greatest joy and accomplishments were her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by her children, Gary (Oneita) Faatz, SueAnn (LaVar) Francks, Vickie (Jerel) Hill, and Dennis (Renee) Faatz; 21 grandchildren, 52 great -grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Valine Christiansen; brother, Don Lewis Voorhees.
Also pPreceding her in death is her parents; grandsons, John Michael Francks and Jacob Donald Hill; siblings, Velma Weight, Ross Alonzo Voorhees, Helen Thomas, and Laurine Lair.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 27, 2012 at 12:00 Noon in the Mayfield LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Mayfield City Cemetery.
