Aurissa Brookman
Sevier, Utah
Alice Aurissa Jackson Brookman, 76, passed away at her son’s home in Sevier on July 26, 2021. She was born August 22, 1944 in Willkinsburg, Pennsylvania to Robert Conway and Margaret Eleanor Burkhart Jackson. She married her sweetheart, Jack LeRoy Brookman on November 13, 1970 in Las Vegas, NV. He preceded her in death on February 17, 2021.
Aurissa grew up in Pennyslvania, graduating from Turtle Creek High School in 1963 where she was active in the art club and fashion club. She then moved to California to live with her sister. She was very independent and quickly found a job at Knotts Berry Farm and found her own apartment. This is where she met the love of her life, Jack.
She was an amazing mother to Geof and an even more amazing grandmother to Cole—who was her best birthday gift ever—born just an hour before her birthday. She was always close to her family. She mentored Laura and taught her to cook, sew, and garden. She was a most wonderful mother-in-law.
She loved to garden and landscape. She was always willing to teach others the things she knew and share seeds and plantings.
Aurissa was a social butterfly. She loved to host parties and gatherings. She was always entertaining.
Most of her life she was a homemaker, but after moving to Utah she worked at Little Wonder Café for 10 years. She loved to travel with her friends from work. When she made friends, they became life-long friends.
She loved horses all her life and moving to Utah was a dream of Aurissa and Jack’s. They moved to Utah in 1989 and she finally had her cowboy, her ranch and her horses.
She was outspoken — she could speak her mind. A hard worker, she was always working on the ranch, painting and making improvements.
Aurissa was a bird watcher and taught people about the different birds in the area and their bird songs. She loved nature: going for rides to the mountain, fishing and camping. Fall was her favorite season because of the beautiful colors.
Survived by her son: Geof (Laura) Brookman; grandson, Cole Brookman; siblings: Doris Rudy, twin brother, Allen Jackson.
Also preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Raymond Jackson, Margaret Hill, Frank Jackson, Robert Jackson
