Our precious and faithful mother, Arvilla "Billie" Jensen Payne, 95, joined her best friend and eternal companion Evon, on March 2, 2020 in Richfield. Her life was a beautiful example of faith and faithfulness. She lived to serve others. Her Savior, Jesus Christ, her beloved husband, her dear family and her many friends were her most cherished blessings.
Mom was born July 7, 1924 in Glenwood to Guy Vincent and Eliza Dott Moss Jensen. She married Evon Payne, March 10, 1944. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on September 7, 1954. They were married for 69 wonderful years. He preceded her in death April 19, 2013.
Mom was an incredible wife, mother and homemaker and active in every community she lived in. She served faithfully and joyfully in all Church callings, including Relief Society president and counselor. She served as president of the Monroe Fireman’s Auxiliary and president of the Monroe Literose Club. Mom and Dad were honored to serve as missionaries in the New York Rochester Mission and later served in the Manti LDS Temple for over 8 years. Faith, hope and charity guided her life.
She is survived by her children: Bonita (Bill) Reynolds, Bountiful; Deanna Gilchrist, Richfield; Jeanie (Kelly) Clements, Springville; James (Merrilee) Payne, Monroe; 17 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren with one more on the way.
Also preceded in death by her parents; foster parents: Archie and Jessie Anderson; son-in-law, Don Gilchrist; great-grandson, Jeremy Ryder; siblings: Ted V. (Nita) Jensen, Ruth (Roy) Thornton, James (Flora) Jensen, Eileen (Fletcher) Heilesen.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 12:00 Noon in the Monroe 2nd Ward Chapel, where friends may call from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Monroe City Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti. Online guestbook at www.maglebymortuary.com
