Arthur Owen Mitchell died Wednesday, March 2, 2016 from natural causes in American Fork. He was born on January 21, 1923 in Neola, Utah to Marvin Rudger and Cora Hacking Mitchell.
Arthur was sealed to LeVara Mae Halverson June 12, 1942 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was drafted into WWII 1943 where he served in the European Theatre of War. Art worked at Kennecott Copper for 36 years.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and fulfilled many church callings including a mission to England and an ordinance worker at the Jordan River and Manti Temples. He loved the Lord, his eternal companion, family and a good prank.
Art is survived by his wife, children; Anna (Harold Pearson, deceased), June (Mike Willes), Louise (Barry Johnson), Brad (Jeanne Bennion) Mitchell, Mindy (Robert Young); sister, Meda Giovannoni; brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Sherri Mitchell; 26 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren, 11 step-great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and several foster children.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 7 brothers; 4 sisters; son, Bob H.; daughter, Arva; grandson, Levar Pearson, and a great-grandson Kelly Blaine.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 11, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Manti 4 th Ward, 555 E. Union Street where friends may call from 9:00-10:30 a.m. Burial will be on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Neola Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the LDS Church General Missionary Fund.
