Arlene Depew Hatch, 81, passed away peacefully the morning of August 9, 2013 surrounded by her children.
She was born June 19, 1932 in her grandfather's farm house in Raymond, Alberta, Canada to William Warren and Leah Enid Lybbert Depew. She grew up in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada until she was 18 when she came to the United States moving to Provo, Utah. She later moved to San Francisco where she met the love of her life, Arthur Hatch. They were engaged to be married one week after they met.
She married Arthur A. Hatch on May 29,1958 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They lived in San Francisco, CA, where Arthur was serving in the military. Later moving to Panguitch, Sunset, and then Syracuse, where they raised their six children. After retiring from working at Syracuse City, she and Arthur moved to St. George and later to Ivins, as well as spending as much time as possible at their cabin on the Hatch Ranch at Mammoth Creek.
Nothing was more important to Arlene than her family and the gospel of Jesus Christ. She served in many capacities in the church with her favorite being anything involving music, specifically leading the music. During the past few years she spent many hours involved with humanitarian efforts, organizing many projects with her friends and neighbors.
She was very proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved spending time with them.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, her parents Warren and Enid Depew, her sister, Carolyn Hass Mayo and her brother Kenneth Hass.
She is survived by her children, H. Bryan Hatch (Teresa), Michael V. Hatch (Lori), Janet Kay Hatch, C. Glenn Hatch (Joyce), Kelly D. Hatch (Barbara) and Tiffany Hatch, and her 10 grandchildren, 7 great- grandchildren; siblings, Don Depew (Linda), Joan Jacobs (Gord) and Dixie Anderson.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the ICU staff at Dixie Regional and friends and neighbors of Padre Lakes.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the in the Ivins, Red Cliffs 8 th LDS Ward Chapel, 625 East Center Street, where friends may call on Wednesday morning from 8:30 to 10:30. Burial will be in the Panguitch Cemetery Wednesday at 3:00 p.m.
