Arleane Petersen
Manti, UT
Arleane Curtis Petersen, 97, of Manti, passed away on May 4, 2012 of natural causes. Arleane was born April 5, 1915 to Raymond and Luella Tracy Curtis in Oakley, Idaho.
Arleane loved playing basketball, dancing, singing in groups, and participating in drama. However, her great love was teaching young children in first grade and kindergarten. Arleane taught in public schools for many years until she opened her own private kindergarten and pre-school. At the time of her retirement she had a three year waiting period for students to enter her school. The first student who enrolled in her private school has kept in touch with her until the day she passed away. She was very good with handling money and could make a penny squeal like no one else.
Arleane and Lauritz have two sons: Benton and Samuel; grandchildren: Grant Petersen, Tashya Petersen, Nicholas Petersen, Katrina Petersen King, Kenneth Petersen, Laurie Petersen Beck, and Matthew Petersen. She also has many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son, Samuel. She will be missed because she was so dearly loved.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in the Manti LDS Stake Center. Interment will take place at 2:30 p.m. in the Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 So., Sandy. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti. Online guestbook at www.maglebymortuary.com
