Arla Dalton Westwood, 88, passed away May 8, 2017 in Ivins, Utah. She was born November 13, 1928 in Circleville to Robert Elwood and Eva Norton Dalton. She married Richard James Westwood, December 10, 1946 in the Manti Temple. They just celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in December.
A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Arla devoted her whole life to service. She held many callings in the Relief Society and Primary organizations. She and Richard served in the North Dakota, Fort Yates Mission in 1997. Upon returning home they served as ordinances workers in the St. George Temple.
Famous for her dinner rolls, Arla made sure to share them often. She was a seamstress, gardener and homemaker. She loved to ride around the valley, usually taking along a book to read. For more than 20 years she took care of her invalid mother. She was also the custodian of the Circleville Elementary and LDS Church building for many years.
Arla’s grandchildren remember that she often took them to the park and would push them in the swings, giving much demanded "underdogs". She also took them rabbit hunting, spotlighting for deer and taught most of the them how to drive
Arla is survived by her husband; children: Merrill (Renee) Westwood, Circleville; Marjean (Charles) Lang, Washington City; Arlene (Larry) Prima, Magna; Colleen (William) Felton, Junction; Cheryl (Stephen) Whittaker, Richfield; Glade (SueAnn) Westwood, Washington; and Sonja (Kim) Christensen, St. George; 24 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; siblings: Stanley Dalton, Circleville; Evelyn Whitlock, Monroe; Delos (Ann) Dalton, Springville; Teresa Dalton, Cedar City.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Janeane Dalton; brother-in-law, George Whitlock; sister-in-law, LaHoma Dalton.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 1:00 pm in the Circleville 1st Ward Chapel, where friends may call Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Circleville Cemetery.
