Annette “Ann” Christensen
Richfield, Utah
Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, Annette Mae Baker Christensen, 83, passed away peacefully and surrounded by multiple generations on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 in Salt Lake City. Born May 3, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois to Oliver Johnson Baker and Marcella McKey. She was raised by her maternal grandparents in Moline, IL.
Ann received her Associate Degree in Home Economics from Graceland College and then lived and worked in Chicago, where she began her eternal romance with dental student and WWII Veteran, Randall J. Christensen. They met on New Year’s Eve 1951 and were married on July 12, 1952, Moline, Illinois. They spent their honeymoon moving to Randy’s hometown, Richfield, so that Randy could start his dental practice. They raised five daughters and the family was sealed for time and all eternity on February 12, 1969 in the Manti Temple.
Ann was the proud grandmother of 15 and great-grandmother of 34. She was a dedicated homemaker and also worked many years as Randy’s nurse and secretary in the dental office. She was an amazing cook, baker, candy maker, canner, flower gardener, seamstress and quilter. She was also an avid Utah Jazz fan. She and Randy enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping together. She treasured her life and many friends in Richfield, and was an active member of the Richfield 7th Ward. She served in many different callings for the Church, but her eight years as Primary President were dear to her.
Ann lived with her daughter, Davi, and her family in Evanston/Kemmerer, WY for the last four years. She recently found her father and his family. Although he had passed, this past summer, she was able to travel to Missouri to meet her sister, Cora, and her extended family.
She is survived by her daughters and their spouses, Davi (John) Christensen, Debbie (Jaren) Jones, Dana Christensen, Franci (Jesse) Archibald and Meg (John) Staples; 15 grandchildren and their spouses; 34 great-grandchildren; sister, Cora Fickinger; sister-in-law, Clara Christensen; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Ann was preceded in death by her grandparents, mother, father and her beloved husband, Randall J. Christensen in 2002.
