Anna May Jensen
Monroe, Utah

Surrounded by her family, Anna May Ogden Jensen, our loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away August 6, 2024 in her hometown of Monroe, Utah.

Anna May was born on December 9, 1944, in Richfield, Utah to loving parents Wendell Scott and Ione Olcott Ogden. She was welcomed by two older brothers, and two sisters later joined the family. Anna May enjoyed a happy childhood in the little green valley she loved.

Anna May married the boy down the street, David Merrill Jensen, on August 18, 1962, in the Manti Temple. They would have celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in a few weeks. David knew he married the most beautiful girl in Monroe (the Queen of Monroe's July 24th celebration).

David and Anna May began their married life in Las Vegas, Nevada where David worked in Masonry. Soon, their family was completed by the arrival of three little boys: Kelly David, Tony Merrill, and Michael Scott.

Longing to return to their beloved hometown of Monroe, David and Anna May moved back in 1968.

Anna May loved being back in Monroe with their families and she loved being a mom to her three rambunctious boys. Anna May’s home was always spotless, she kept a beautiful garden, many gorgeous rose bushes, and was an extraordinary cook, providing delicious meals for family and friends. Anna May loved spending time with her family including David in his love of horse racing. They spent many summers traveling across the United States training and racing horses, spending an unforgettable summer in Finger Lakes, New York.

David and Anna May brought numerous children into their home through the Indian Placement Program. They loved having Virginia, Harlan, and Salvador in their home.

Anna May worked for UP&L and Sevier School District.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in various callings in the Youth Women’s, Primary and Relief Society. Anna May was a valiant visiting teacher until her health prohibited her from doing so.

Dementia took our Anna May away years ago, and many people wondered where she was, they didn’t recognize the beauty that had once been, but we know she is back to her beautiful self and reunited with family.

Anna May is survived by her husband, David Jensen; her sons, Kelly, Monroe; Tony (Carleen), Draper; and Mike (Tamie), Monroe; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sisters: Vicky (Les) Jones, Cedar City; Wendy Nez, Monroe. Additionally, she is survived by her sisters-in-law, Marge Ogden, Glendale, AZ; Phyllis Ogden, Preston, ID.

Anna May was preceded in death by her loving parents, Scott and Ione Ogden; beloved grandson Jordan Jensen; brothers, Russell and LaMar Ogden; David’s parents, Dean and Raeola Jensen; sister-in-law, Linda Jensen Wissinger.

The family expresses our sincere appreciation to At Home Health Care, Vicky, Kristen, Heather and Jackie, also to Monroe Canyon Assisted Living, Bryan and Sue and their staff.

A special thank you to Anna May’s dear friends, Patricia Nelson, Della Joslin, Holly Lay, Julie Kimball, Sam (Janice, deceased) Ware, Cami Smith, and Shannon and Gayle White.

Mom, we love you and we’re so grateful for everything. We’ll miss you.
