Anna Valine Voorhees Christiansen, 81, passed away peacefully at her home in Mayfield, on September 23, 2013. Valine was born October 4, 1931 in Mayfield to Austin Marinus and Anna Devoda Voorhees. She married her sweetheart, Stanley Angus Christiansen, December 9, 1949. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple. Together they raised 4 boys, Kenneth, Robert, Frederick, and Richard, and suffered the loss of their infant daughter Tammy. She has missed Stan dearly since he passed in 1991.
Valine was a fun, charismatic, and nurturing lady. She was compassionate and understanding and spent her whole life serving others. She was a dedicated homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She found so much joy in family and her posterity. She was an excellent cook and loved to feed others.
Valine is survived by her children: Kenneth (Patty) Christiansen, Axtell; Robert (Diane) Christiansen, Mayfield; Frederick (Laurie) Christiansen, South Jordan; and Richard (Sandy) Christiansen, Mayfield; 16 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren; brother Don (Sheryl) Voorhees, and brother-in-law Floyd Weight.
She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley; daughter Tammy; her parents; sisters Barbara Faatz, Velma Weight, Helen Thomas, Laurine Laier; brother Ross Alonzo Voorhees; and twin great-granddaughters Madison and McKenna Mortensen.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 27, 2013 at 12:00 Noon in the Mayfield LDS Ward where friends may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Mayfield Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
