Alaska Richards
Tropic, Utah
Our sweet loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Alaska Smith Richards, 83, returned to her eternal sweetheart on November 16, 2014. She was born November 8, 1931 in Henrieville, to Thomas W. and Minnie Clark Smith. She married Floyd D Richards, December 15, 1949 in Las Vegas, NV. The marriage was later solemnized in the St. George Temple. They had three children: Gregary Floyd (deceased), Thomas K. and NaKole. Floyd passed away July 5, 2011.
Grandma’s love of the outdoors wither it be working in the yard or spending time "out in the valley" with her family made her the happiest. Always by her sweetheart’s side, she went where he went. They spent many years working in Ely, NV with their sons. Together with their sons they moved back to Tropic "home" to be closer to family and friends.
Grandma had many talents, she was a great cook, she had a green thumb, made many quilts and crocheted beautiful afghans and dollies. Always a dedicated wife she took care of her sweetheart up till his final moments "all by herself". She will be missed greatly and we are thankful she taught us "love is forever".
She is survived by her son, Thomas K. (Melody) Richards, Tropic; daughter, NaKole (Rick) Crofts, Orderville; 7 grandkids, 22 great-grandkids, 1 great-great-granddaughter.
She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Gregary (Paula) Richards; 4 brothers, 3 sisters.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Tropic Ward Chapel where friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Henrieville Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti. Online guestbook at www.maglebymortuary.com
