Alma Olsen

Alma Sorensen Olsen, passed away January 1, 2021 in Centerfield. She was born in Ephraim on August 29, 1933 to Howard Soren and Erna Minnie Sorensen. She grew up in Lake Point and Mayfield. She attended elementary school in Mayfield and went to high school in Manti. She married Richard Harold Olsen on November 9, 1948 and moved to Gunnison where they built their home and raised eight children.
Alma was a seamstress and made every stitch of clothing her children wore until her daughters learned the art for themselves. She was an incredible cook and worked at the Wisteria Cafe for many years. She was known around the valley for her fabulous pies, cinnamon rolls and platter-sized pancakes.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter–day Saints where she participated in ward plays, the choir, was Sunday School chorister and a Primary and Sunday School teacher for many, many years.
Alma is survived by children: Steven R. (Karen) Olsen, Boyd, TX; Peggy (Paul) Ruesch, Hanibal, MO; Danny Olsen, San Antonio, TX; Kathleen Carnes, Gunnison; Michael Olsen, Richfield; Lynn Olsen, Mesquite, NV; David (Stephanie) Olsen, Cedar City; 20 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren,1 great great-grandchild; siblings: Reid Howard Sorensen, Keith Neil (Marina) Sorensen, Rose Marie Sorensen; brother-in-law, Roger L. (Floris) Olsen. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents; in-laws, Harold Richard and Bertha May Olsen; son, Darin Olsen; grandsons: Patrick Michael Ruesch, Robert Kyle Carnes and Brandon Allen Olsen.
Graveside services and interment will be held Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at 12:00 Noon in the Gunnison City Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
