Allen Lee Simons "Simo"
Manti, Utah
Allen Lee Simons, 64, of Manti, passed away on Noveber 15, 2018. He was born on October 21, 1954 in Mt Pleasant, UT to Alden Que and Olive Pauline Shomaker Simons.
Allen has always been a man of few words, but made up for it greatly with the biggest heart and kindest soul. Allen made friends with so many over the years, most people would know him from his career as a mechanic and business owner at AB Auto in Manti, or from the many roles he held in the Church. Anyone who knew him, would remember the kind and generous nature that he always had. Allen had a special calling in this life. It was to be of help to anyone that was in need. He was always so grateful and happy to serve others in any way he could.
Allen had many hobbies that he enjoyed in his free time. He loved to shoot his many guns and he also reloaded all of his ammo. Allen loved to be outdoors, riding ATVs in the mountains, camping and fishing. He enjoyed exploring new places and loved to see petroglphs, and was fascinated with old native relics. But above all, Allen’s biggest passion in life is his two granddaughters, Mattix and Lola , whom he cherished more than anything. Allen spent every second he could going on fun adventures with his girls. Allen, known simply as "Papa", was always the life of the party. Often Papa and his girls would get into a bit of mischief, as he would let the girls jump and play in mud puddles and bring them back muddy and wet, but always with great big smiles on all of their faces. He also loved to sneak them a can of their favorite soda, Dr. Pepper, whenever mom wasn’t watching. He always got a great kick watching his daughter chase after the girls when they had a good sugar buzz. Allen truly loved his role of being a father and grandfather, there was never any question about that.
Allen was the best father, papa, son, and brother that anyone could have asked for! He has always set an example of Christ-like love and compassion. He was an extremely hard worker, and was always busy doing something. There never were many idle moments in his life. Even after he had knee replacement surgery, he would sneak off when his daughter wasn’t looking and go down to his shop. He just wasn’t one that could enjoy sitting or resting for very long.
Allen will be greatly missed by all who knew him, and he will always be remembered as the sweet, loving, and amazing man that he is.
Allen is survived by his daughter, Amanda Lee (Steven) Patterson and his 3 beloved grandchildren: Damon, Mattix, and Lola Patterson; mother, Pauline; and his siblings: Kristine Woodland, Paula Hansen, David Simons, Terry Simons, and Steven Simons; step boys Paul Hansen and Marty Lamkey. Preceded in death by his father; his nephew Brady Simons.
Our family would like to thank everyone who has been a dear friend to our sweet Allen. We are so grateful for the outpouring of love and support we have received in this very difficult time.
