Albert Douglas Meacham, 78, of Monroe, passed away peacefully July 28, 2019 in Richfield surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Sigurd Utah May 10, 1941 to Ossil Leyond and Iola Mae Gleave Meacham. He was the third child.
Doug graduated from Richfield High School in 1959. After graduation, he married the love of his life, Beverly Kaye Sorensen on June 5, 1959 in Venice, Utah. They first met at the Carol Theater and this union has lasted for 60 years. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple.
A hard worker, Doug always earned his pay. He was employed at the following: Clark Wall Farm, Georgia Pacific, a government trapper, Deer Trail Mine, Coke, Pearson’s Dairy Farm and Sufco Mine. After retiring from Sufco, he spent his later years farming in the Brooklyn and Monroe areas.
He was also known for the annual elk hunt camp at Daniel’s Canyon. Everyone was welcome to come and join them. He even had a special tent made to hold 28 people. The speciality was Doug’s Dutch oven cooking and the sour dough biscuits.
Doug was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was also a member of the Sevier County Mounted Posse, Marysvale Riding Club, and Brooklyn Canal Company.
Doug is survived by his wife, Beverly; children: Arlishia McCoy, Central Valley; Kyle
(Marsha) Meacham, Richfield; Rebecca Blackburn, West Jordan; Russell (Lisa) Meacham, Elsinore; and Rory (Christine) Meacham, Elsinore. He leaves a legacy with his 5 children; 31 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Siblings: Rula, Ron, Bruce, Karen, Leona, and Ester; sister-in-law, Trish.
Preceded in death by his parents; children: Rachelle Meacham, Randall Meacham; son-in-law, William Blackburn; great-grandson, Brody Harwood; siblings: Edna (Ray) Montaque, John (Sherry) Meacham, and Dean Meacham.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Monroe 1st Ward Chapel, where friends may call from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Cremation services will follow. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina, Manti. Online guestbook www.maglebymortuary.com
