Alan Issa
Richfield, Utah
Alan Hasan Issa, 79, left this world on June 12, 2020, in Richfield, after a 10 year battle with cancer. Alan faced life with a positive attitude and faced death the same way. He was born in Tripoli, Lebanon, May 22,1941, to Hasan and Halima Issa, he was one of eight children. His interest in electronics began at an early age and stayed with him through life.
In 1961, Alan left Lebanon and ventured to Kuwait to work for Getty Oil as foreman in charge of Ship to Shore communications, as well as onboard communications equipment. In 1965, he came to the USA to go to school in Long Beach, CA. There he met his love, Dorna and began work for Sears and Roebuck as a service technician.
Alan and Dorna were married in 1966 and began their family. They have three boys: Omar, Jeff and Brian. California became too congested and in 1977 they looked for a quieter place to raise their boys. They had gone through Richfield several times on the way to visit Dorna’s family in Colorado and just happened to get a chance to transfer with Sears. They planned to live here permanently and bought a home. But Sears closed the Richfield Service Center and they were asked to move to Blythe, California. Instead they took a chance and started Alan’s TV and Electronics. From 1979 until its closing for retirement in 2013, Alan and Dorna served the electronic needs of Sevier Valley and surrounding areas. To most of the people in the valley, Alan is known as The TV Man.
One of his proudest moments was when he became a citizen of the United States in 1972. He chose this country and that made it special to him.
He and his family traveled to Lebanon in 1975 to visit. He was revered by all of his family. Their love was so warm to him and Dorna and the 3 little boys. In 2018, Alan, Dorna and Brian returned to Lebanon for a visit with his ailing brother. In 2019, Alan and Dorna made a trip to Sweden to visit all of the nieces, nephews and assorted other relatives that had immigrated over the years.
Utah was very kind to Alan. He loved the camping, ATV riding, snowmobiling and he loved the people.
Alan is survived by his wife, Dorna of Richfield; three sons: Omar Lynn, Venice; Jeffrey (Sharmel), Eagle Mountain; and Brian Alan (Elizabeth), McKinleyville, CA; 5 grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Cremation services have been held. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti. Online guestbook at www.maglebymortuary.com
