A Jay Poulson

A Jay Poulson, 87, of Richfield, passed away June 4, 2020, in Tooele, Utah. He was born January 1, 1933 to Arthur Lynn and Elva Torgersen Poulson, in Elsinore.
He graduated from Richfield High School in 1951. He participated in many sports but excelled in track. He ran track in high school, at B.A.C. (now Southern Utah University), Utah State University, and in the Army where he received many awards and medals for running the low-hurdles, 100 yd. dash, 220 yd. dash, and relays. He came to be known as "Golden Legs" because of his athletic abilities.
A Jay served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Japan.
He knew the definition of hard work. He was involved in all aspects of the grocery business. He owned and operated Poulson’s Inc. as a wholesaler serving small communities in Southern Utah. He later owned two "Country Stores" in Monroe and Aurora.
A Jay had many hobbies including: bowling, golfing, fishing, hunting, gardening, scuba diving, writing books, and spending time with family and friends.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed the many callings he served in.
A Jay married Anna Vee Nordfors June 3, 1953 in the Manti Temple (later divorced). He married Melinda Brewer December 28, 1994. She preceded him in death May 5, 2019.
A Jay is survived by his children: Robert Poulson, Georgia; Teresa (Donnie) Risher, Alpine; Rick (Karen) Poulson, Richfield; Trina (Rob) Thomas, Saratoga Springs; Traci (Dale) Egbert, West Haven; Terri (Blaine) Chynoweth, Grantsville. Melinda’s children: Dillon (Jessica) Hutchings, Richfield; Weston (Tanya) Hutchings, Monroe; Michelle (Troy) Christensen, Richfield; Cory (Jennifer) Hutchings, Central Valley. Also 22 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. His siblings: Louise Bindrup and Ray Lynn Poulson.
Preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Nicole Risher, great-granddaughter, McKenna Paskett
Graveside services will be held Thursday, June 11, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. in the Monroe City Cemetery with military honors.
