Afton Glen Blood, 86 of Angle, Utah, passed away April 11, 2013 at his home in Richfield, surrounded by his family.

He was born March 25, 1927 in Salina to Willis A. and Estella Peterson Blood. He married Carol Dawn Brindley, September 27, 1946 in the St. George Temple.

He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Navy.

Afton was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many leadership positions. He and his wife served as ordinance workers in the St. George Temple for 4 years.

He served 30 years on the school board and as a county commissioner in Piute County. He also served on the Federal Land Bank Board and the Central Utah Water Board for several years.

Afton was a farmer and livestockman, and he loved his work. He loved to hunt and spend time with his family. He was happiest when he was surrounded by his grand and great-grandchildren.

His survivors include his beloved wife, Carol; children, Layne (Ilene) Blood, Kerry (Jackie) Blood, Bryan (Cathy) Blood and Camee (Scott) Zingelman; 14 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; 11 siblings; grandson, Brant K. Blood. We love you grandpa and look forward to when we meet again.

The family extends a special thanks to Bryan and Cathy Blood for the dedicated and loving care given to grandpa and grandma during these past several months.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 in the Antimony LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the Magleby Mortuary in Richfield, Monday evening from 6 to 8 and at the ward chapel in Antimony on Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30. Burial will be at the Blood Family Cemetery in Angle where military rites will be provided by the V.F.W. Piute Post #7561 and the Utah Honor Guard.
