Bill “Papa” Leathers
Salt Lake City
William Glen “Bill” Leathers passed away peacefully Monday, November 22, 2021 in Wendall, Idaho. He was 88 years old. Bill was born August 8, 1933, in Denver, Colorado to Charlie and Helen Leathers.
He graduated from Granite High School then enlisted in the United States Air Force, March 9, 1953 and was honorably discharged, March 9, 1957. He shared 58 wonderful years with his wife, Dianna Howes, originally from Marysvale, whom he married on March 1, 1963. They shared 58 good years together. They had two daughters: Vickie Leathers Cromar, and Lisa Leathers.
Bill worked for Mountain Bell Telephone Company for 29 years. After retiring, he acquired his locksmith certification and license and worked for Wasatch Front Ski Accommodations. He also ran a small business out of his home in Cottonwood Heights, doing small engine repair and blade sharpening. Bill was always tinkering in his garage, as Dianna would say. There wasn’t a thing he wasn’t able to fix or build. He loved hunting, snowmobileing and golfing. He loved his “golf group” and enjoyed snowmobiling with close friends, Shirley and Leon Day.
He is survived by his loving wife, Diana; 2 daughters; son-in-law; 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Robert Leathers.
