Kenneth Byron Sorenson
1921-2014
Kenneth Byron Sorenson, age 92, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother returned to his Heavenly Home February 19, 2014. He was born in Ephraim, Utah on June 25, 1921 to George Willard Sorenson and Jennie Caroline Blain. He married Rhea May Blackham for all time and eternity in the Manti LDS Temple on June 26, 1942.
He grew up in Ephraim with his parents, four brothers, and four sisters, where he learned the meaning of hard work as he helped tend to the land and livestock. He attended Snow College and worked as a welder, plaster worker, and rancher. During WWII he proudly served our country in the US Army Air Forces. Ken was also an artist and while he had no formal training, he learned from watching his Uncle Max, and by observing the beauty of the land around him. Perhaps his greatest accomplishment was his love and dedication to his family. While he may have lived a simple life, it was one filled will dedication to hard work, honor, friendship, and love. We have a tremendous amount of gratitude to a loving Heavenly Father who allowed him to enrich and bless our lives.
One of Ken’s greatest joys was his family, and we find great comfort in knowing that families can be together forever. He is survived by his daughter Vickie (Kim) Clarke; grandchildren, Michael (Loisanne), Mark (Natalie), Laura, Brian (Wendy), Josh, Chrissy (Doug), and Casey (Tiffany); great grandchildren, Jordan, Courtney, Mason, Emery, Abrielle, Walt, Jack, Callen, Allie, Keeley, Cody, Colton, Spencer, Mitchell, Chelse, Cheyenne, and Bridgette; and sisters, Wanda and Bonnie. He is preceded in death by his wife, Rhea; daughter, Kenna; parents, George and Jennie; brothers, Udell, Blain, Dale, and Lamar; and sisters; Audra and Maxine.
We would like to offer our many thanks to the staff at Rocky Mountain Home Care, who helped him throughout his final days. We would also like to thank all those that loved and will miss him, and would ask that you join us in celebrating his life.
