Ileta Dix
Panguitch, Utah
Ileta Huntington Dix passed away peacefully, surrounded by family in the home of Melodie and Tom Wood in Farr West, Utah on March 26, 2022. She was 94. Ileta was born in Hatch, Utah on January 25, 1928 to Oliver Barnhurst and Velma M Evans Huntington. She married the love of her life, her eternal companion, Albert “Pat” Dix on October 19, 1950. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George Temple.
Ileta had a genuine love for all people and was known for her kindness, compassion, and generosity. She received much joy from handing out two dollar bills to both children and adults alike, hence, her family nicknaming her the “Two-dollar Bill Queen”. Ileta was a woman of great faith and was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints her entire life. Her Christ-like attributes touched many lives.
Ileta was also a woman of many talents. Growing up in a time with few material means taught her how to make the most out of the resources she had. She made clothing, dolls, wedding cakes, quilts, and much more. She lived in Panguitch, Utah the majority of her life, where she and Pat raised their five children. She had a great love for the people of Panguitch and enjoyed being a part of the community.
Ileta loved all people, but what gave her the greatest joy in life was her family. She was happiest when she spent time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She left behind a wonderful legacy with the way she lived her life and her example of treating others with love and kindness will continue to live on in the lives of her family.
Ileta is survived by her children: Richard (Jesse) Dix, Robbie Irish, Kelley (Lin) Dix, Melodie (Tom) Wood, KC (Cathie) Dix; 20 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband; parents; son-in-law, Rick Irish; grandchildren: Christopher Paul Dix, Cora Lynn McInnes, Nicholas Lee Long; siblings: Reva Lowder, Beth Allred, May Sawyer, Garn Huntington, and Boyd Huntington.
